‘It was an accident,’ he said. He didn’t mean to do it; I forced him, I provoked him. I should have kept my distance, my mouth shut, I should have shut up when I was told. I should have stopped struggling; I should have calmed down.
It’s all so simple; the whole thing is easier when I cooperate. Believe me, please, it’s not his fault, he honestly didn’t mean to, and he’ll never do it again. I caused it, it’s my fault, and sadly, I am safe with him.
Ptsd is a predominant outcome due to domestic abuse. Stop saying, ‘I should have’ and find someone, something, who supports, ‘I should have.’
